Axiom is a real, widely used terminal, but it is not risk-free. It is a Y Combinator-backed company, its wallets are non-custodial, and we found no reported hack of Axiom user funds. The caveats: a February 2026 allegation that an employee misused internal tools to view user wallet data, and a steady supply of fake Axiom sites and apps that drain wallets.
Risk notice: Crypto trading is high risk and memecoins can go to zero in minutes. Trading bots use hot wallets. This page is not financial advice; only trade what you can afford to lose.

Who runs Axiom?
Axiom is listed by Y Combinator as a Winter 2025 company founded in 2024 by Henry Zhang and Preston Ellis, based in Austin, Texas. The Block reported in May 2025 that the founders are UC San Diego graduates who previously worked at TikTok and DoorDash, and that Axiom opened early access in late January 2025 before launching publicly in mid-February 2025.
It is also the biggest terminal in its category. DefiLlama showed about $52.9 million in Axiom fees over 30 days when we checked on September 25, 2026 (DefiLlama). A named team, a known accelerator and heavy usage make Axiom a legitimate business. They don't make it safe to park large balances there.
Custody: who controls your funds?
Axiom's docs say it uses "non-custodial infrastructure, secure key management, and encryption," and point to Turnkey as its wallet infrastructure partner. Turnkey's own case study says Axiom uses its policy engine to automate onchain actions, and that non-custodial wallets mean "the provider never controls user funds or keys." Forbes reported that the setup relies on AWS Nitro Enclaves, so private keys were not exposed to employees.
The docs also say you can access your recovery phrase "at any time in your settings" and warn: "Never ever share your Secret Recovery Phrase with anyone!" That means you can take your wallet elsewhere if Axiom goes down.
Non-custodial still means hot wallet. Axiom's software signs trades for you, so anyone who gets into your account, or gets your recovery phrase, can move your funds.
The February 2026 insider allegation
On February 26, 2026, on-chain investigator ZachXBT published allegations against Axiom staff. According to CoinDesk, he alleged that a senior business development employee used internal customer support dashboards to look up users' linked wallet addresses, referral codes and user IDs, and shared that data with a small group tracking influencer wallets, allegedly to trade ahead of expected price moves. DL News reported that the group allegedly traded over about 10 months.
Axiom's response, as quoted by The Block: "We are surprised and disappointed to hear that someone on our team abused internal customer support tools to look up user wallets. We have removed access to these tools and will continue to investigate and hold the offending parties responsible."
What this does and doesn't mean:
- No funds were reported stolen. The Block notes ZachXBT said confirming specific insider trades would need Axiom's internal logs, which he did not have.
- It is a privacy problem. Staff could link wallets to accounts. If you trade from a wallet tied to your public identity, others may learn more about you than you expect.
- We found no public follow-up on the outcome of Axiom's investigation as of September 26, 2026.
In our method, this counts as one confirmed data incident that Axiom addressed, which puts Axiom's security sub-score at 8.5 (every bot starts at 9).
Fake Axiom sites and apps
Axiom's popularity makes it a phishing target. Documented cases:
- Drainer sites. A February 2026 Recorded Future report on a drainer group found landing pages impersonating services "such as Axiom, Bitget, Photon, Jito, and Marinade." One victim described connecting a Phantom wallet to what they thought was Axiom and losing SOL.
- Look-alike domains. PhishDestroy flagged axiompro[.]app as a confirmed phishing site in October 2025.
- A fake mobile app. Crypto Adventure reported in May 2026 that a counterfeit Axiom app captured seed phrases and hit 207 users for over $147,000, citing community investigators. It noted this was "not a confirmed breach of the real Axiom trading platform."
- Fake support. Axiom's support docs warn that "scammers often impersonate support staff" and say official help comes only through tickets in its Discord.
Axiom is a web terminal at axiom.trade. Treat any app store listing or "Axiom Pro" domain that you didn't reach from axiom.trade itself as suspect.
Safety checklist for Axiom
- Type axiom.trade yourself and bookmark it. Don't click Axiom links in ads, search ads, DMs or replies.
- Use a dedicated trading wallet with only what you would accept losing. Keep long-term holdings elsewhere.
- Don't trade from a wallet tied to your identity, given the 2026 allegation about staff access to wallet data.
- Back up your recovery phrase offline. Axiom's docs suggest importing it into a standard wallet such as Phantom as a backup; if you do, use only a reputable wallet you already trust.
- Never type your recovery phrase into anything that asks for it to "verify," "sync" or "claim."
- Ignore support DMs. Use a ticket in the official Discord only.
- Set MEV protection to Secure, which Axiom's docs recommend (how MEV protection works).
- Test a small withdrawal early, then withdraw profits often.

Our verdict
Our editorial view: Axiom is legit and a reasonable place to trade memecoins with a small, dedicated balance. Its custody model is sound on paper, and no hack of user funds has been reported. The February 2026 allegation is a real mark against its internal controls, and phishing clones are the more likely way an Axiom user loses money. Axiom scores 9.1/10 and sits first on our list, which is an editors' order (usage, score and ease of starting), not a pure sort by score.
If the allegation puts you off, compare Trojan and GMGN, or see our ranked Axiom alternatives. The full Solana trading bot ranking shows every score.
