To use BONKbot, open @bonkbot_bot in Telegram, press Start to create your wallet, deposit SOL from the Wallet menu, turn on 2FA, then press Buy and send a token's contract address. This guide follows BONKbot's official docs, checked September 26, 2026.
Risk notice: Crypto trading is high risk and memecoins can go to zero in minutes. Trading bots use hot wallets. This page is not financial advice; only trade what you can afford to lose.
For our assessment, read the BONKbot review (it scores 6.8/10) or compare Trojan vs BONKbot and BONKbot vs GMGN. We did not trade on BONKbot for this guide; each step comes from the linked docs.
Before you start
- Find the real bot. BONKbot's setup guide says to "search by username for Bonkbot_bot" or use the Telegram link on its docs. Its safety page warns: "BONKbot mods and admins will NEVER dm you first - anyone who does is 100% a scammer!"
- Enable Telegram two-step verification. BONKbot's safety tips include it, and Telegram's FAQ explains how: Settings, Privacy and Security, 2-Step Verification.
- Budget for a hot wallet. BONKbot's key encryption page says "NOT transfer more money to BONKbot than you can afford to lose" and recommends withdrawing back to your main wallet after trading.
Step 1: Start the bot
Open the bot and "press start or type /start". Per the docs, "You have now initialized an empty wallet. You will be buying and selling from here."
BONKbot says it uses a custom signing system called the Signer: "Your private key is never visible to anyone else - not us, Telegram, or any third-party," and each transaction "is checked against a template you've approved."
Step 2: Deposit SOL
From the deposit guide:
- From the Home menu, select Wallet.
- Select Deposit SOL.
- Send SOL to the address shown.
BONKbot also has a Buying SOL page for purchasing inside the flow.
Step 3: Turn on 2FA
The deposit guide recommends setting up 2FA before you trade. From the 2FA setup page:
- Go to Settings → Security Config.
- Generate your 2FA key. BONKbot shows a QR code and a backup key.
- Scan the QR code (or type the backup key) in an authenticator app.
- Enter the 6-digit code to confirm.
Once on, 2FA protects private key exports and withdrawals. BONKbot says this keeps funds safe "even if your Telegram is compromised." Store the backup key offline.
Step 4: Configure slippage, priority and MEV protection
BONKbot's settings include:
- Slippage Config: separate buy and sell slippage, plus a Max Price Impact limit to guard against "trades in highly illiquid pools."
- Transaction Priority: preset levels such as Medium, or a custom fee for "quicker processing."
- MEV Protect: two modes.
- Turbo: "We use Jito to send transactions, protecting you from frontruns when it's fastest. If regular is faster, the tx is not protected."
- Secure: "This guarantees protection at all costs, even if transaction is slower. Increase the bribe to make tx faster."
- Sell Protection: a mandatory confirmation step for sells.
- Buy/Sell Buttons Config: set your preset amounts and percentages.
The docs don't publish default slippage or priority amounts, so check what's set before your first trade. For how to pick values, read Solana priority fees and slippage and Solana MEV protection explained.
Leave Auto Buy off at first. BONKbot's docs say it buys "a pre-determined amount of a token when the contract address is sent", which means a pasted address becomes a trade immediately.
Step 5: Buy a token
From the buying guide:
- Type /start again so your wallet shows the new balance.
- Press Buy.
- "Reply with the token address, or name." Use the contract address, not the name, to avoid copycats.
- Press a preset Buy X SOL button or enter your own amount.
Before buying, check the token. BONKbot's safety docs explain three flags: mint authority ("should be disabled!"), freeze authority, and whether the LP is burnt. They suggest rugcheck.xyz as well. Full checklist: how to spot a rug pull on Solana.
Step 6: Sell
Per the selling guide, open Manage Positions. You can view your account on Solscan and the token chart on Birdeye, cycle through positions with the arrows, and choose to buy more or sell some or all of a position.
Step 7: Limit orders, trailing stops and DCA
- Limit buys: "Buy Dip" (below the current price) or "Buy Breakout" (above it). Select Limit, choose an amount, and pick a trigger: market cap, USD price, a multiple or a percentage change. The order stays open until it fills or you cancel it.
- Limit sells and a trailing stop loss for exits.
- DCA: set a total amount, number of transactions, interval and slippage. The bot shows total cost including fees and slippage before you confirm, and you can cancel anytime. BONKbot's docs list DCA buy and sell in the Telegram bot as of September 26, 2026.
Step 8: Withdraw and export your key
BONKbot's 2FA page confirms that SOL withdrawals and private key exports exist and are protected by 2FA once enabled. The docs we checked don't show the exact menu path for either, so follow the prompts in the bot's Wallet area and confirm the destination address carefully.
If you export your key, store it offline and don't import it into other trading apps. In March 2024, BONKbot said every drained account it examined "has previously exported their private keys" into another app (Decrypt).
Keep your wallet safe
- Check the username every time. Fake BONKbot clones exist.
- Turn on BONKbot 2FA and Telegram 2-Step Verification. They protect different things.
- Never share your private key or seed phrase. BONKbot's scam page: "The only reason anyone will ever ask is to steal your money."
- Be careful with ad links. BONKbot warns users to "exercise extreme caution when engaging with all external links presented in BONKbot ads."
- Withdraw often. Keep only today's trading balance in the bot.

Prefer the web?
BONKbot also runs Telemetry, a web terminal with wallet tracking and discovery tools. Our BONKbot review covers both. BONKbot ranks fifth on our home page, which is an editors' order (usage, score and ease of starting), not sorted by score.
